Yankton is a safe and friendly community, but we will never be complacent when it comes to the health and safety of our students. Campus safety officers protect our students, faculty, buildings and grounds. Safety officers may ask for your ID, and they deserve full cooperation.
If you witness a crime on campus, please report it to campus security. Campus safety officers report to the Director of Campus Safety.
Safety Services
Campus buildings are locked by 11:00 PM every night. The exterior doors to the residence halls are always locked. Delivery drivers are not allowed inside residence halls. Kindly meet delivery drivers outside of the residence hall doors. Hall residents are responsible for locking the doors to their own room. Please report any maintenance problems that could compromise security to the Director of Campus Safety by calling (605) 668-1316 during the day or Campus Safety at night 605-661-9883.
Security Escort
If you would like an escort, call Campus Safety at 605-661-9883. A member of the Campus Safety team will meet you and walk with you to or from a location on campus.
Security Programs
You can play an important role in crime prevention and campus security. Attend one of our security programs during new student orientation or one of our ongoing sessions in the residence halls, campus forums and university publications.
