Activity Stream

Body

The Activity Stream in Blackboard Ultra provides instructors with a real-time overview of course activities, enabling efficient management of course content, assessments, and student engagement.

Accessing the Activity Stream

After logging into Blackboard Ultra, select Activity from the left-hand navigation panel of Ultra Base Navigation (UBN).

Understanding Activity Stream Categories

Items in the Activity Stream are organized into categories for streamlined navigation:

  • Important: See overdue assignments, tests, and graded discussions. If you dismiss an item in this section, you won’t be able to view it again even if you sign out and sign in again. When you dismiss a stream item, the original content isn’t affected. You just remove the notification from the Activity page.
  • Upcoming: View your top five events that will happen in the next seven days. This section doesn’t appear if no upcoming events are available.
  • Today: See everything happening and due in the next 24 hours, including institution-wide announcements about emergency notifications and updates.
  • Recent: If you haven’t checked in for a bit, view stream items that were previously in the Today section over the last seven days.

Customizing Notification Settings

Instructors can tailor which notifications appear in the Activity Stream:

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Activity Stream to access Notification Settings.
  2. In the Stream Notification section, select or deselect the types of notifications you wish to receive.
  3. After making your selections, click Save to apply the changes.

Additional Features

  • Direct Access: Click on any item within the Activity Stream to navigate directly to the relevant course material or activity.
  • Filter Options: Use the filter to display specific types of activities, such as Assignments and Tests or Grades and Feedback.
  • Performance Alerts: Monitor student performance through alerts integrated into the Activity Stream, allowing for timely interventions.
  • New Calendar Events: Stay informed about upcoming events and deadlines with notifications about new calendar entries.
  • Blog Activity: Receive updates when new blog entries are posted, edited, or commented on, facilitating engagement with student reflections and discussions.

For a comprehensive guide, refer to the Blackboard Ultra Activity Stream Guide.

By effectively utilizing the Activity Stream, instructors can maintain an organized overview of course activities, promptly address student needs, and enhance the overall learning experience.
