Key Points

Navigating the Learn Ultra Environment

  • Because Learn Ultra is a highly flexible, evolving system, your Blackboard Learn Ultra environment may look different from the screenshots you see in this presentation.
  • Learn itself is highly customizable, and your institution administrators have complete control over dozens of features and which privileges are granted to you as an instructor.

Ultra Course Structure/Content

  • Your course will look substantially different to your students than it looks to you as an instructor. Remember you can check how your course looks and works by using your Student Preview. Remember that students will also be unable to see items you have hidden or content areas that are restricted by date.

Essential Communication Tools

  • Communication is key to creating sense of community among your students and keeping them engaged.
  • One of the most important things you can do as an online instructor is to have a consistent presence in your course, letting students know that you are available to give them feedback and answer their questions.

Mobile Applications

  • The Blackboard app provides an intuitive way for you to interact with courses, content, instructors, and other students.
  • In the Blackboard app, you, as an instructor, can perform these tasks:
    • View course items and course announcements
    • Take assignments and tests
    • Participate in discussions
    • Interact with your instructor and class in Blackboard Collaborate
