Effective teaching involves providing timely support to students. To help instructors easily follow up with students or groups who have not yet submitted an assessment, we have introduced a “Send Reminder” option in the Gradebook.
Important Notes:
- The item must be visible to students and free of release conditions for the reminder option to be available.
- Known issue: When attempting to send a reminder, the system displays the message: “Your reminder could not be sent as there are release conditions against this item,” even though the item is available and within the specified date access time.
- If the item is part of a forced sequence within the module, instructors can temporarily deactivate the forced sequencing to send the reminder.
The Send Reminder option is available from the Gradable Items and Grades views.
Reminders are sent as blind carbon copy (BCC) emails to non-submitting students and to the instructor. Before sending, instructors must confirm their intent. The confirmation screen will display the number of recipients who will receive the reminder.
Send Personalized Email Message to Students
Alternatively, instructors can send a more detailed email to incompletes by clicking the item’s title in the Gradebook, selecting the appropriate students on the Submissions screen, and choosing the Send Message option.
Unlike the Send Reminders option, this feature allows instructors to provide detailed guidance, including text, videos, and attachments.
